here i'll share my secrets of how i amassed my collection of video game tunes

first up is my site of choice, downloads.khinsider.com (name rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it)
i just call it KHInsider, since that's their main domain

it's probably one of the biggest public collections of video game music on the internet
no one talks about it to keep it safe from the wrath of certain music distributors
(at least, that's what i imagine)

this is where i've gotten a majority of my collection from, notably some of the more obscure osts

it has a random album and song feature if you're looking to discover some new stuff and a search function for finding favorites

usually you can find stuff availble in both MP3 and FLAC formats, but MP3s tend to be more common

the only downside is that you can't mass download an album unless you donate to the site or refer visitors (cough cough)
site costs can't be cheap when you're hosting 948,978 songs

unfortunately, this isn't a completely secluded oasis of vee gee em

a month or two ago (as of Nov. 2021), SEGA's music distributor made the site take down all of their SEGA music (Sonic, OutRun, etc.)

strangely, stuff like NiGHTS into Dreams and Power Drift is still up, but anything Sonic is no longer hosted

in the rare occasion i can't find a soundtrack on KHInsider (Final Fantasy music, notably),
i use Zophar's Domain

they have more than just music, but i only use the music side of their site

they have MP3s, FLACs, and in several cases the original music files (like spc or nsf)

you can also download entire albums, but their selection can be lacking at times
only 657,658 songs, and there's less obscure game osts or arrangement albums on the whole

also, fun fact, they're hosted by KHInsider

YouTube with a video-to-mp3 converter is how i get anything that's not on either KHInsider or Zophar's

first & third images have links to their respective sites

and to one purple-y pal, i definitely could've just sent links
but i figured making this page would motivate me to actually continue working on the rest of this site

there's not much here at the moment, but i have lots of plans for what i want to add
